Route 3 - Tim River, Big Trout Loop: Starting from Access Point # 5, travel north to the top of Canoe Lake, portaging 295 meters into Joe Lake. North from Joe Lake into Teepee Lake, then north to Littledoe Lake and west into Tom Thomson Lake. From here you have a long portage (2320 meters) into Ink Lake and then McIntosh Lake (1) where you camp for night one. The next day you head north through Timberwolf Lake, Misty Lake, Shah Lake and then do a longer portage (1125 meters) into the Tim River (2) where you camp for the second night. On day 3 you paddle down the Tim River (with the current) to Shippagew Lake and then into Big Trout (3), via either Longer Lake or Blue Lake. The next day you travel south, up Otterslide Creek (5 portages) into Otterslide Lake and then one last portage into Burnt Island Lake (4) where you spend the last night. On the final day you head back to Canoe Lake via Baby Joe and Joe Lake. This is a relatively difficult trip, but can be done by most intermediate paddlers traveling 8 to 9 hours a day.
