Highway Campgrounds
You can also enjoy the splendor of camping in the park by staying at one of the more traditional drive-in highway campgrounds. Individual campsites are clean, well maintained and feature a picnic table and fire pit.
Some sites have electrical services. At each camp ground there are comfort stations, some with showers and laundry facilities. All are situated on a Park lake and most have a beach area.
These campgrounds are ideal for families or groups wishing to experience much of what Algonquin has to offer, without traveling back into the interior of the park. They are also great for staying the one night before you start your canoe trip and the one night at the end of your trip.
Camping permits are required. In 2008 the rates were as follows;
| Car Camping |
with hydro & showers $37.35 per night |
| |
with showers $32.40 per night |
| |
without above $30.95 per night |
| |
additional vehicle $10.90 per night |
Campsites can be reserved. (Recommended for the summer months and long weekends). The Ministry does accept site specific reservations. Refer to our Camping In The Wilderness page for information on reserving campsites or contacting Parks Ontario.
There are eight camp grounds along Highway 60 corridor.
