Rates - Canoes and Packages

At the Portage Store we have many different outfitting packages to suit your needs. From a casual one day canoe or camping stay in the park, to a multi-day canoe trek - we have it all. Here are some of the services and packages that we offer, along with our rates.

Complete Outfitting Packages - Unguided
This type of package includes everything you need for a memorable trip. We pride ourselves in providing our customers with a complete wilderness experience. From well maintained equipment to hearty, generous meals to instructive, helpful advice, we do it all. Each trip is custom planned, packaged and awaiting your arrival. Friendly, helpful staff will personally attend to your trip. Each staff person is an experienced canoeist, familiar with the park. They will spend time with you, answering questions regarding equipment, menu, route selection, fishing, wildlife, etc. They can review your canoeing skills, show you how to load your canoe and demonstrate the correct portaging technique. Upon embarking from our store you are well prepared for a most memorable experience.

Lightweight Package
Canoe: Kevlar Standard 15' canoe or Kevlar Expedition 16' or 17' canoe.
Equipment: Canoe life vest - lightweight internal frame pack - compact stove and fuel - saw - flashlight with batteries - insect repellent. Lightweight, free standing Eureka timberline tent - water treatment method - sleeping bag with liner - sleeping pad - lightweight cook kit (pots, pans, plates, cups and utensils) - rain poncho - first aid kit - water bottles - rope, compass, map, supply bag (matches, garbage bags, bio-degradable soap, toilet paper, dish cloth, reusable scouring pads).
Deluxe Menu: Choose from a wide variety of items. Fresh foods featured for the first few days, followed by non-perishable, lightweight trekking foods. Three meals a day, beverages, snacks and condiments included. Generous portions.

Deluxe Lightweight Package
Same equipment as Lightweight Package with the following changes and additions: 
Canoe: Kevlar Ultralight 16' or 17' canoe. 
Equipment: Self-inflating sleeping pad - fire starter - Deluxe Cook Kit. 
Deluxe Menu Plus: Extra luxury touches included.

Lightweight Equipment Only Package
Includes canoe and equipment found in our Lightweight Package, without food packs.

Deluxe Lightweight Equipment Only Package
Includes canoe and equipment found in our Deluxe Lightweight package, without food packs.

Food Packs Only: Food only. (includes internal frame pack). No equipment or supplies.
(Food Packs are available only to our canoe rental customers)

General Information on Packages
Rates are per person, per calendar day. Breakfast on the first day and dinner on the last day aren't usually needed, so they're only packed if specifically requested. Packages can be picked up the preceding day after 5 p.m. at no extra charge. Interior camping permits are required. They are purchased at the Canoe Center Park office right beside our Store. For further information on permits, refer to our Camping in the Wilderness Page.
Rates are based on a minimum of two adults or more. Singles supplement: 25%. For children 10-15 years old, deduct 25%, for 5-9 years old, deduct 50%. Under 5 years, free. A reservation deposit of $100.00 per person is required to confirm your trip. Deposits are refundable up to 5 days prior to date of trip. Subject to availability, last minute reservations can be made by phone or fax or E-mail. A major credit card is required for deposit.
Rates do not include PST or GST (taxes). Visa, Master Card and American Express accepted.

Partial Outfitting 2008
All equipment rentals are based on the calender day, with the exception of overnight equipment, which is charged by the night.

Trippers Discount: For rentals 9 days and over deduct an additional 10%. Applies to all equipment rentals and packages, except food packs. Please note: Rates do not include GST or PST. In addition to the rental fee (payable at time of rental) a refundable damage deposit of $50 per canoe is required.

Rental canoes may be picked up after 5 pm the preceding day at no extra charge. Canoes rented for more than one day, will be charged the half day rate if rented after 1pm or returned before 12 pm.

Group Rates:
Substantial group discounts are available to registered non profit groups. For more details, please ask for our Group Outfitting information sheets by contacting us. We guarantee competitive group rates.
